Pather Panchali
Director Satyajit Ray Our notesThe first in Satyajit Ray's APU trilogy. This film is a serene and beautiful depiction of a little boy's childhood in the Indian countryside of the 1950s. The film is overwhelmingly real and a key element is the maintenance of this realism. This story of a simple Bengal village family stays in the heart long, long after the film has ended. One of the greatest Indian films ever made.
